Indulging in all the holiday means there's plenty of sweet treat and that may not the healthiest foods for our bodies to consume, especially for our oral. There are several ways that you can enjoy your favorites deserts and candy for the upcoming holidays without putting your teeth and gums at risks.
Cavities are a common disease that most people get at least once during their lifetime. Cavities  can also be known as tooth decay which are caused by the bacteria in your mouth that gets stuck to your teeth. Each time we eat or drink, we feed the bacteria, and it continues to grow and dissolves the outer layer of enamel of your teeth. Overtime, if the bacteria has not been removed and cleaned from the site it can make its way inside your tooth and make more cavities which may lead to complications that could result in the tooth being extracted.
What can you do to prevent cavities?
  • Practice good oral hygiene: Brush your teeth using a fluoride toothpaste and floss between
  • Limiting sugar: Avoid foods and drinks with added sugars. Instead, look for foods and beverages that are naturally sweetened without the added sugars or sugar-free products.
  • Get regular check-ups: It is recommended to visit you dentist at least once a year. People who are at a higher risk of oral diseases should see a dentist every three to six months.
